A 37-year-old unemployed man, who only two weeks ago moved into Farm Road, Madoo Singh Extension Bois Bande Settlement, Sangre Grande, was found dead with gunshot wounds to his body in his bamboo shack.
The dead man has been identified as Kawi Dhaniram, also called Blacks, formally of De Gannes and Jawahir lands, Cunaripo.
Police reported that around 1.50 am they responded to calls from residents of Farm Road, Madoo Extension Bois Bande Settlement who said they heard several gunshots
On arrival the police found Dhaniram wounded but still alive.
He was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery but succumbed.
According to police, Dhaniram was one of the suspects in a $300,000 robbery which took place three weeks ago and went into hiding at Farm Road, Madoo Singh Extension Bois Bande Settlement, where he built the bamboo shack and was staying for the last three days.
His killing pushed the murder total to 184 for the year.
