The Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny (NGC) is giv­ing the as­sur­ance that pub­lic safe­ty re­mains its high­est pri­or­i­ty af­ter it re­ceived a re­port of an odour of nat­ur­al gas de­tect­ed at the Debe High School in Debe. School of­fi­cials dis­missed school as a mat­ter of pre­cau­tion on Fri­day.

NGC per­son­nel were dis­patched to the lo­ca­tion to con­duct as­sess­ments and at 11.30 am, af­ter in­ves­ti­ga­tions, nat­ur­al gas was not de­tect­ed at the school or in its vicin­i­ty.
