Fa­tal­ly stabbed four times in the neck dur­ing a home in­va­sion in Cou­va on Sat­ur­day, Am­i­na Mo­hammed had no chance of sur­vival dur­ing a home in­va­sion.

She had been dish­ing out din­ner for her fam­i­ly at their Nan­cy Street, Cou­va when the knife-wield­ing thieves stormed in just af­ter 7 pm on Sat­ur­day.

Mo­hammed, 68, was in the kitchen when the thieves cut the lights.

Her hus­band Nazem Mo­hammed told po­lice he was sit­ting on the couch in the liv­ing room area when he heard a loud noise near the front door.

The sus­pects dressed in dark-coloured cloth­ing en­tered. One thief had a res­pi­ra­tor cov­er­ing his face while the oth­er had a cov­er­ing with an or­ange ban­dana. They then tied up Nazem and de­mand­ed cash and jew­ellery.

The thieves claimed that a rel­a­tive owed $140,000 for over three years now. Po­lice said five min­utes lat­er, both sus­pects left. Some time lat­er Nazem man­aged to free him­self and found his wife dead on the bed with stab wounds to the neck.

He called his son Ah­mad Saleem Mo­hammed who alert­ed the po­lice. Neigh­bours rushed the bleed­ing Mo­hammed to the hos­pi­tal where she was pro­nounced dead.

An au­top­sy will be done at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre on Mon­day.
