RHONDOR DOWLAT-ROSTANT
It’s been three months since Filipino woman Lyka Bernas, 29, was last seen and is deemed still missing.
In an update on the investigations, the Police Service can only confirm, through enquiries so far, that Bernas has not left the country through any legal ports, “and as such the search continues.”
Despite a $20,000 reward for any information leading to Bernas’ whereabouts, Guardian Media understands that no information has been forthcoming.
Police sources at the Belmont Police Station said they seem to have hit a “dead end” but assured that they are still searching and willing to go on any hints from members of the public who may have information and fearful of coming forward.
In an interview with Guardian Media earlier this year, Amelia Bernas Salvador, Bernas’ aunt explained just how hopeless the family has been since she went missing last December without a trace.
Salvador said they have not been able to eat or sleep and added that when they do rest most of their dreams are about her and in their dreams Bernas appears to be in pain and asking for help.
Bernas, who has been in the country for just over three years, was last employed locally as a nanny.
Bernas, of Jerningham Avenue, Belmont, was last seen at about 9 pm on December 10, 2021 and was reported missing on December 13, 2021.
Bernas is of slim build and brown in complexion with long black hair.
She was last seen wearing a grey jersey and a pair of short pants.
Bernas also has a tattoo of an arrow on the left side of her torso.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Bernas is asked to call the Belmont Police Station at 621-2515, or 999, 555, CRIME STOPPERS at 800-TIPS or report via the TTPS’ App.
