The section of the North Coast Road, before the Lookout heading to Maracas, is now passable to single lane traffic.
The San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation issued the update today, noting that on Saturday night (December 30, 2023), there was a landslide and a section of the roadway collapsed.
Following the incident, the road was impassable to vehicular traffic.
However, crews from the Corporation and the Ministry of Works and Transport cleared away some of the debris.
In its advisory, the Corporation advises residents of the area to:
“Proceed with caution and traverse the roadway only if necessary.”
Meanwhile, it is own advisory on the issue, the Ministry of Works and Transport is encouraging members of the public to:
“Consider alternative routes or avoid the area, if possible, until full connectivity is restored.”
The Ministry says ongoing assessments are being conducted, while teams continue working on re-establishing full connectivity to the area.
