The National Transformation Alliance (NTA) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic passing of Lisa Morris-Julian, Member of Parliament for D’Abadie O’Meara, and her two young daughters.
In a media statement issued on December 16, the NTA condemned the spread of speculation and unfounded narratives surrounding the tragedy. The party called out those using the incident to promote political agendas, citing claims about burglar-proofing, fire service delays, and water supply issues as premature and baseless.
“This is a time for unity, compassion, and empathy,” the statement read. The NTA urged all citizens to refrain from politicizing the tragedy or attributing it to spirituality or political motives. Such actions, the party emphasized, are “disrespectful, unkind, irresponsible, and insensitive.”
Gary Griffith, Political Leader of the NTA, called for dignity and respect in public discourse. “Political opponents are not enemies,” he said, urging the public to focus on shared humanity rather than division.
The NTA encouraged citizens to honour the memory of Morris-Julian and her daughters by standing in solidarity and supporting the grieving family. “Let us reflect on our shared humanity and come together as a nation in this time of grief,” the release concluded.
The NTA also extended its deepest condolences to the family, wishing them comfort in the love and support of the nation.
