Investigations are continuing into the killing of a Curepe man by an off-duty officer during an alleged robbery on the weekend.
Ferdan Thomas, 20, of East Grove, Curepe, was reportedly shot around 8 pm on Sunday and later died in the car he sought to get away in.
Police reports indicate the officer was liming near a mechanic’s shop along Lyndon Street, Curepe, when he was confronted by an armed suspect who announced a hold-up.
The officer allegedly pulled out his licensed firearm and shot the suspect, who it is alleged returned fire.
Thomas was hit as he attempted to drive off and his car soon came to a stop. Checks later revealed he had been shot several times.
As the police were alerted to the shooting, a search of Thomas’ vehicle allegedly turned up a gun.
Several spent shells were also recovered at the scene.
