Soca artiste Olatunji Yearwood has advanced to yet another stage of the X Factor UK competition, earning the first seat on the show’s Six Chair Challenge in the latest episode.
This time, Yearwood thrilled with his performance of Lou Bega’s Mambo Number Five.
Performing first in the line-up, Olatunji, who first wowed the judges during the auditions with his song Bodyline, gave a vibrant performance that had audience members and judges alike dancing along. Flinging off his top hat, he danced across the stage and eventually shook his hair loose, much to the delight of the audience.
The 32-year-old was told by judge Adya Williams, “I would like you to take seat #1 please,” to the loud cheers of the audience.
The Six Chair Challenge replaces the traditional boot camp audition stage of the competition and the contestants are split into four different categories, each with a judge assigned as a mentor.
Williams is the mentor of the group of contestants that Olatunji is in.
Judge Simon Cowell, commenting on Olatunji’s performance, said, “I think this competition needs people like you. If it was me there would no hesitation, you would be taking one of those chairs.”
