Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar says that “we must not lose hope or faith that we each posses the ability to change in our small way, our beautiful nation of Trinidad and Tobago for the better. In her New Years Day message the opposition leader stated “from the effects of the pandemic to a worsening economy to rising crime and food prices, our nation is enduring the worst of times. Yet, there is still much to be grateful for. It is during moments of great difficulty that we are able to see the things in life which truly matter; our family, our friends and the simple things which bring us joy.”
The following is a press release from the Opposition Leader:
The end of the year is usually a time when we take a pause and reflect on the twelve months which have passed.
We remember those who have lost loved ones in this terrible pandemic that continues to plague our nation and I offer my sincere condolences to all who have lost those close to their hearts this year.
From the effects of the pandemic to a worsening economy to rising crime and food prices, our nation is enduring the worst of times. Yet, there is still much to be grateful for. It is during moments of great difficulty that we are able to see the things in life which truly matter; our family, our friends and the simple things which bring us joy.
A New Year provides us with the opportunity to start fresh, with renewed vigour and optimism. As we begin 2022, let us face the many challenges that confront us with a renewed sense of purpose and an open mind.
Now is the time to believe in new possibilities and to strive in making them a reality.
Though we are indeed in dark and difficult times, the dawn of a new day is not far now. Now more than ever we must not lose hope or faith that we each possess the ability to change in our small way, our beautiful nation of Trinidad and Tobago for the better.
I have the hope that by continuing to work together as a united people, we can make 2022 a year of safety, peace and prosperity and usher in the change our nation needs.
Happy New Year! Be safe Everyone.
