Leighanna Dennis, Miss Princes Town delegate in the Miss World T&T 2025 Pageant and founder of Flowers for Women, Inc., hosted the local edition of her advocacy initiative, “Pads & Pilates,” on October 11 at the Ste Madeleine Golf Course in San Fernando.
The event forms part of Dennis’s ongoing mission to promote menstrual equity and women’s health through community engagement. It followed a successful edition held in Florida, which drew more than 30 participants and collected over 1,800 menstrual products.
In Trinidad, women from across the country participated in a morning of wellness and giving, combining a Pilates session with a drive to collect menstrual products for girls in need. Donations from the event will benefit 24 students at Princes Town West Secondary School, providing them with several months’ worth of essential supplies.
Dennis said the initiative aims to raise awareness about menstrual equity while fostering a supportive environment for women.
“This initiative transcends geographical boundaries,” she said. “Whether in Florida or Trinidad, the goal remains the same—to ensure that no girl is held back by her period. When we invest in women’s health, we invest in the future of our communities.”
Through “Pads & Pilates,” Dennis merges wellness and philanthropy, encouraging both physical health and social responsibility. The project aligns with the ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ theme of the Miss World platform, which challenges contestants to use their influence to advance charitable and humanitarian causes.
Dennis founded Flowers for Women, Inc. to formalise and expand her advocacy work locally and internationally. The organisation continues to invite donations and partnerships aimed at reducing period poverty and improving women’s health education.
The “Pads & Pilates” initiative is expected to continue with future editions across other parts of T&T.
