Parts of the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route have been opened for use by the gen­er­al pub­lic, fol­low­ing yes­ter­day’s par­tial col­lapse and bridge fail­ure on Gold­en Grove Road, at the Arou­ca Riv­er, in the vicin­i­ty of the Gold­en Grove Prison.

The bridge fail­ure along the Gold­en Grove Road in Arou­ca came af­ter two days of heavy rain­fall across north­ern Trinidad.

An ad­vi­so­ry from the Min­istry of Works and Trans­port states un­til fur­ther no­tice, au­tho­riza­tion has been grant­ed to Light Mo­tor Ve­hi­cles to uti­lize the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route (PBR), from Ari­ma Old Road to Or­ange Grove Road, from Wednes­day 14th Oc­to­ber 2020.

“This will fa­cil­i­tate the free flow of traf­fic, in light of the bridge fail­ure along Gold­en Grove Road,” the Min­istry says in its ad­vi­so­ry.

Apart from the op­tion of us­ing the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route, the pub­lic is be­ing ad­vised to seek al­ter­na­tive routes, where pos­si­ble.

The Min­istry as­sures that work will be­gin to­day, Wednes­day, on erect­ing a tem­po­rary Bai­ley bridge on the site.  En­gi­neers at­tached to the High­ways Di­vi­sion con­duct­ed an as­sess­ment of the sit­u­a­tion and pos­si­ble so­lu­tions, last evening.
