Parts of the Priority Bus Route have been opened for use by the general public, following yesterday’s partial collapse and bridge failure on Golden Grove Road, at the Arouca River, in the vicinity of the Golden Grove Prison.
The bridge failure along the Golden Grove Road in Arouca came after two days of heavy rainfall across northern Trinidad.
An advisory from the Ministry of Works and Transport states until further notice, authorization has been granted to Light Motor Vehicles to utilize the Priority Bus Route (PBR), from Arima Old Road to Orange Grove Road, from Wednesday 14th October 2020.
“This will facilitate the free flow of traffic, in light of the bridge failure along Golden Grove Road,” the Ministry says in its advisory.
Apart from the option of using the Priority Bus Route, the public is being advised to seek alternative routes, where possible.
The Ministry assures that work will begin today, Wednesday, on erecting a temporary Bailey bridge on the site. Engineers attached to the Highways Division conducted an assessment of the situation and possible solutions, last evening.
