A 72-year-old woman was robbed by gunmen of cash and valuables on Tuesday afternoon as she completed her grocery shopping at Massy Stores, Woodbrook.
The victim who lives at Robert Street, reported exiting the supermarket at Kitchener and French Streets around 2.35 pm on August 8 – and coming face to face with two men. One of the suspects was armed with a gun, which he pointed at her and demanded she hand over her handbag.
Fearing for her safety, the elderly woman surrendered the white and brown bag valued at US $25; which contained one Samsung A51 cell-phone valued at TT $2,500; one Digital Laser Measuring Device; and her wallet in which her TTARP card, her Massy-membership card, an RBC credit card, a Scotia Bank debit card, along with other business cards were kept.
There was also $700 in cash and other personal belongings in the bag.
The men then escaped in a waiting car that had been parked alongside her car.
