Homicide investigators believe they have identified possible persons of interest in the murder of private contractor Andy Daniel.
Daniel, 54, was murdered on November 11, 2023, on the Uriah Butler Highway near the Caroni Overpass.
He worked installing security cameras.
Investigators have speculated that his murder was the work of a “hit squad” operating within the Strategic Services Agency (SSA) and orchestrated by someone in the agency who misused their authority.
Sources said several people who were “persons of interest” in Daniel’s murder were recently identified.
One source noted that various technological tools including CCTV footage, GPS tracking, eyewitnesses and cell phone data on the day of the murder were utilised to narrow down the pool of persons.
The persons identified had affiliations with the SSA.
However, the source insisted that “a lot of work” was still expected to be done, as detectives were in the process of building their case and were exploring different angles.
Persons of interest are people who are identified as having information about a crime as opposed to suspects who are believed to be the perpetrators of a crime.
Sources also disclosed that a black Nissan X-Trail seen in video footage of the attack was believed to be the getaway vehicle used by the killers.
The vehicle was last seen in Aranguez before vanishing from the sight of police.
The source said the SSA has an office in Aranguez.
