Seven men were arrested and two stolen vehicles recovered during a police operation in the Four Roads district on Monday night.
Officers of the Western Division, with support from the West End Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Western Division Task Force (WDTF), conducted the operation following intelligence received from the Command Centre. The information concerned a silver Toyota Fielder Wagon reported stolen earlier that day in the Arima district.
Acting on the information, officers proceeded to a car park near First Citizens Bank, Four Roads. There, they discovered the stolen Toyota Fielder Wagon and two other vehicles.
The behaviour of several individuals at the scene prompted officers to intervene, leading to the initial detention of four suspects.
Shortly after, another vehicle attempting to evade police was intercepted, and three additional suspects were detained. Police recovered tools suspected to have been used in vehicle thefts and a bank card belonging to one of the victims.
Investigations confirmed that two of the vehicles at the scene were stolen, fitted with false plates, and showed signs of forced entry and tampered ignitions.
The scene was processed by Western Division CSI, and investigations continue with support from Arima CID.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is urging members of the public to report suspicious activity and reiterates its commitment to combating motor vehicle theft and other criminal activity.
