Police Officers attached to Eastern Division Special Operation Unit have found over $1 million worth of marijuana stuffed in concrete bricks in a house at McShine Street, Sangre Grande.
The 55 kilogrammes of marijuana were found wrapped in blue, black and white transparent plastic in 72 bricks and stacked in white crocus bags.
Police reported that around 12:40 pm yesterday, officers attached to the Eastern Division Operations Unit conducted an exercise at McShine Street, Sangre Grande for illegal firearms and ammunition.
The officers, based on surveillance and intelligence, proceeded to a wooden home where the officers attempted to execute a search warrant for illegal firearms and ammunition.
Several calls were made by the police at the wooden house to the individual that dwells there and police got no response.
On checking, police heard noise emanating from the house, which caused them to enter the house by force.
As the police entered, they observed several white crocus bags in which they found the bricks.
No one was arrested.
The marijuana was confiscated and taken to Sangre Grande Police Station where it was weighed.
The excercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Aguilal spearheaded by Cpl Ramnarine and included PCs Cielto, Singh, and Samuel.
