A 26-year-old To­ba­go man and his 27-year-old girl­friend have been tak­en in­to cus­tody, in con­nec­tion with the dou­ble mur­der of broth­ers Kel­ton and Ken­wyn James in Les Coteaux, To­ba­go, on Fri­day night.

The man who is from Gold­en Lane was ar­rest­ed at his girl­friend’s house in Pe­trea Gar­dens, La Hor­quet­ta around 1 pm yes­ter­day.

Both were tak­en to the Besson Street Po­lice Sta­tion where they are ex­pect­ed to be in­ter­viewed by of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion I, as well as the To­ba­go Homi­cide of­fi­cers.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that the op­er­a­tion was a joint ex­er­cise be­tween the Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit (SIU), the Homi­cide Bu­reau and the Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Re­sponse Team (SORT).

Around 10:30 pm on Fri­day, both men had just left their sis­ter’s home at James Av­enue, Table­piece, Les Coteaux and were pro­ceed­ing south along Prov­i­dence Road in a white Hyundai H-100 ve­hi­cle when they were ac­cost­ed by three men they had pre­vi­ous­ly had an al­ter­ca­tion with.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred near the Wise Choice Su­per­mar­ket in Les Coteaux.

Po­lice say the broth­ers both ex­it­ed the ve­hi­cle and were ap­proach­ing the men who opened fire on them. They died on the spot.

The as­sailants es­caped on foot.

The sus­pect is be­lieved to have left To­ba­go via pirogue and was tracked via and land and sea.

The man will be placed on an ID pa­rade this week be­fore he is of­fi­cial­ly charged.
