In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­to the fa­tal shoot­ing of a 30-year-old man in Tu­na­puna on Sat­ur­day night.

The vic­tim has been iden­ti­fied as An­to­nio Venus, of Greaves Street, Monte Grande.

Around 10.55 am, res­i­dents of Cen­te­nary Ex­ten­sion, Tu­na­puna, heard loud ex­plo­sions and alert­ed the po­lice.

Of­fi­cers went to the scene and found a black Toy­ota AE100 crashed in a drain. The vic­tim was in the dri­ver’s seat of the ve­hi­cle with gun­shot wounds to his tor­so.

Venus was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex where he un­der­went emer­gency surgery. He died around 3 pm yes­ter­day.

Po­lice re­cov­ered 18 spent 9mm shells at the scene.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are al­so con­tin­u­ing in­to an­oth­er fa­tal shoot­ing in Mor­vant.

PH dri­ver Akim Neil Gar­cia, 34, of Im­mortelle Cres­cent, North East­ern Set­tle­ment, San­gre Grande, was ply­ing his white Nis­san B15 for hire on Williams Street around 9.40 pm on Sat­ur­day.

Res­i­dents of the area said they heard two loud ex­plo­sions and found Gar­cia bleed­ing in his car.

The po­lice and emer­gency health ser­vices were no­ti­fied and Gar­cia was tak­en to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he died while un­der­go­ing treat­ment.
