Investigations are continuing into the fatal shooting of a 30-year-old man in Tunapuna on Saturday night.
The victim has been identified as Antonio Venus, of Greaves Street, Monte Grande.
Around 10.55 am, residents of Centenary Extension, Tunapuna, heard loud explosions and alerted the police.
Officers went to the scene and found a black Toyota AE100 crashed in a drain. The victim was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle with gunshot wounds to his torso.
Venus was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he underwent emergency surgery. He died around 3 pm yesterday.
Police recovered 18 spent 9mm shells at the scene.
Investigations are also continuing into another fatal shooting in Morvant.
PH driver Akim Neil Garcia, 34, of Immortelle Crescent, North Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande, was plying his white Nissan B15 for hire on Williams Street around 9.40 pm on Saturday.
Residents of the area said they heard two loud explosions and found Garcia bleeding in his car.
The police and emergency health services were notified and Garcia was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
