Of­fi­cers from the Cunu­pia Po­lice Sta­tion yes­ter­day res­cued a moth­er and her in­fant girl from a man who had ab­duct­ed them on Thurs­day night.

Po­lice re­port­ed that around 9 pm on Thurs­day, the of­fi­cers went to War­ren Road, Cunu­pia, and ar­rest­ed a 39-year-old man and res­cued the 20-year-old woman and her 18-month-old child.

Po­lice said yes­ter­day that the moth­er and child ap­peared not to have been harmed.

In­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cers said the duo, who live at Paul Au­gus­tus Street, Chin Chin Road, Cunu­pia, were tak­en against their will by the sus­pect.

The moth­er and child were re­port­ed­ly at the Ghan­di Street, St He­le­na home of a rel­a­tive when the man ar­rived at the site and phys­i­cal­ly ac­cost­ed and took them away.

Po­lice said af­ter pulling them out of the house, the man forced them in­to a white mi­ni-truck and sped off.

Both moth­er and child were hand­ed over to the Vic­tim and Wit­ness Sup­port Unit where they re­ceived ini­tial coun­selling sup­port. - Jensen La Vende
