Police solve three more murders

Law en­force­ment of­fi­cials have suc­cess­ful­ly charged three men in con­nec­tion with sep­a­rate mur­der cas­es across Trinidad.

In a me­dia re­lease, the TTPS said in Port of Spain, 35-year-old Ju­man Ali Sa­ha­dath ap­peared be­fore a Mas­ter of the High Court for the mur­der of nine-year-old Aneil­ia But­ler. The in­ci­dent, which oc­curred on Feb­ru­ary 23rd, 2022, saw But­ler trapped in a fire at her Beetham Gar­dens home.

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Fire Ser­vices re­spond­ed, but she was found de­ceased in her room. Fol­low­ing ex­ten­sive in­ves­ti­ga­tions, Sa­ha­dath was ar­rest­ed on March 28th, 2025, and charged on March 5th, 2025, af­ter ad­vice from Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Roger Gas­pard SC.

Mean­while, in Diego Mar­tin, 20-year-old Akeem Si­mon was charged for the Feb­ru­ary 15th, 2025, mur­der of David Stan­ley Gre­goir. Gre­goir, 29, was dis­cov­ered along Ari­api­ta Av­enue with mul­ti­ple wounds and lat­er suc­cumbed to his in­juries at the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal. Si­mon was ap­pre­hend­ed by Homi­cide Bu­reau of­fi­cers on March 3rd, 2025, and for­mal­ly charged on March 10th, 2025.

Ad­di­tion­al­ly, in Chase Vil­lage, 61-year-old Nicholas Ma­habir was charged with the Car­ni­val Tues­day mur­der of Irv­ing Joaquin May­o­ra Gon­za­lez in St. James. Gon­za­lez was among five in­di­vid­u­als who sus­tained gun­shot wounds fol­low­ing an at­tack near the St. James Mar­ket on March 4th, 2025. Ma­habir faces mul­ti­ple charges, in­clud­ing Shoot­ing with In­tent, Pos­ses­sion of Firearm, and Pos­ses­sion of Am­mu­ni­tion. He was ar­rest­ed short­ly af­ter the in­ci­dent by the West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force and charged on March 10th, 2025.

All three cas­es were in­ves­ti­gat­ed un­der the su­per­vi­sion of ASP (Ag.) Ram­jag, W/In­sp. Grant, In­sp. (Ag.) Ram­sumair, and PC Subi­ah of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI), Re­gion One. Of­fi­cers from var­i­ous law en­force­ment units con­tributed to the ar­rests and sub­se­quent charges.

Au­thor­i­ties con­tin­ue to en­cour­age cit­i­zens to pro­vide in­for­ma­tion that can as­sist in crime pre­ven­tion and in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
