A police officer who was promoted to the rank of Sergeant a month ago has died.
A police statement said Sgt Deon Garfield Mapp died on Monday 5th September, 2022.
Sergeant Mapp was only one month ago promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
He was enlisted in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service on the 08 April, 2002 and was 44 years old.
The statement said Cpl Darren Baptiste remembers Sgt. Mapp, who held one of the highest crime detection rates on the island for the past five years, as an honest and trustworthy officer whose commitment to duty was unmatched.
He was a God-fearing man who worked tirelessly, with passion and dedication. He will be missed by his colleagues at the Canine Operational/ Tobago Branch and by extension the TTPS, for being an essential part of the team and served with the utmost integrity.
Sgt Mapp leaves to mourn his wife Avion Mapp, two children, mother, father and two siblings.
