The Port-of-Spain City Cor­po­ra­tion has paid trib­ute to the cap­i­tal city’s 37th may­or, Ethel­bert “Tel­ly” Paul, who died on the Re­pub­lic Day hol­i­day - Tues­day.

A post on its Face­book page stat­ed that at its end-of-month statu­to­ry meet­ing at City Hall, Port-of-Spain, chaired by May­or Al­der­man Chin­ua Al­leyne, coun­cil mem­bers and ad­min­is­tra­tive staff ac­knowl­edged the pass­ing of Paul, who served the city of Port-of-Spain from 1992 to 1996.

On Sep­tem­ber 28, 2022, the cham­ber at City Hall was re­named the Ethel­bert “Tel­ly” Paul Cham­ber.

May­or Al­leyne praised the tire­less ef­forts of for­mer May­or Paul, fond­ly high­light­ing that Paul’s ded­i­ca­tion to ser­vice should set an ex­am­ple for all.

Paul was al­so a ma­jor fig­ure in the in­sur­ance in­dus­try, run­ning the ‘Tel­ly Paul Agency’ un­der AL­GI­CO.
