The country welcomed its newest citizens on New Year’s Day, as the Port-of-Spain General Hospital’s Maternity Department helped deliver four babies yesterday morning. The two girls and two boys were born between 3.09 am and 10.08 am, according to the North West Regional Health Authority.
The first baby born for the new year at PoSGH, a girl, was born to Thushanda Dookie.
The second baby, a boy, was born to Shimelle Leon Carrington. The little boy was greeted by his father and two grandmothers after a short stint in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The third baby, another girl, was born to Nicole Ann Walters, while the fourth baby, a boy, was born to Cherisse Ealie. All mothers were presented with hampers by NWRHA staff. Meanwhile, a dozen new mothers were presented with gift bags at the Sangre Grande Hospital by the Eastern Regional Health Authority.
