Fifty-five-year-old Ian Be­har­ry has been charged with the mur­der of his neigh­bour Devin­dra Nar­i­nesingh. Be­har­ry of Friend­ship Road, Princess Town is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear vir­tu­al­ly be­fore a Princes Town Mag­is­trate to­mor­row.

He was charged with the of­fence on De­cem­ber 14th fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from Deputy Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Mrs. Joan Hon­ore-Paul.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, Nar­i­nesingh, 37, a me­chan­i­cal tech­ni­cian, al­so of Friend­ship Road, Princes Town, was in his gar­den on Oc­to­ber 5th when he was shot in the ab­domen by a gun­man. He was tak­en to the Princes Town Health Fa­cil­i­ty for treat­ment where he died. The ac­cused was sub­se­quent­ly ar­rest­ed by po­lice in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent on No­vem­ber 14th.

. In­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by In­sp. Ma­haraj, Sgt. Elvin and Cpl Bridge­mo­han, all of Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI), Re­gion 3, while Be­har­ry was charged by WPC Sta­cy Ann George, al­so of HBI Re­gion 3. In­ves­ti­ga­tors were as­sist­ed by of­fi­cers of the South­ern Di­vi­sion.
