The Providence Girls Catholic Secondary school had to be dismissed early today after students said they saw a wounded man run through the compound. According to reports, at around 7.15 this morning , officers of the Port of Spain task force responded to loud explosions at Davis Street Belmont.
Upon arrival, the officers in the vicinity of Belmont Secondary School they said they saw a man who said he was shot on the Lady Young. He was carried to the hospital.
While there, the officers got another report of a man armed with a firearm at Providence Girls school. The principal said she heard her screaming and when she investigated, they told her that they saw a bare back man running through the schoolyard with blood on him.
The officers made checks around the school to ensure no suspects were on the compound. According to the Minister of Education Dr Nyan Gadsby Dolly the ministry is taking steps to install a higher fence at the back of the school where the injured man was able to jump. Gadsby Dolly said this was determined after a visit from officials earlier today.
