The Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty (WASA) says that per­sis­tent rain­fall in parts of North Trinidad and To­ba­go has af­fect­ed op­er­a­tions at some of their sur­face wa­ter treat­ment fa­cil­i­ties.

Ac­cord­ing to the re­lease the fa­cil­i­ties were af­fect­ed by, "high tur­bid­i­ty and clogged screens caused by flood­ed rivers aris­ing from heavy rain­fall."

The fa­cil­i­ties af­fect­ed in North Trinidad in­clude the Tom­pire, Matu­ra, Quare, Gua­napo, Aripo, Mc David In­take, La Pas­to­ra, Cau­ra, Acono and L&N sta­tions. 

The fa­cil­i­ties af­fect­ed in To­ba­go in­clude the Cour­land, Rich­mond, Hills­bor­ough West, High­lands Road and Char­lot­teville sta­tions.

WASA says they will con­tin­ue to pro­vide up­dates on the sta­tus of the fa­cil­i­ties as every ef­fort is be­ing made to re­turn them to ser­vice.
