Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and a ministerial delegation travelled to Georgetown, Guyana yesterday to attend several meetings with Caricom heads of government and Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.
The Caricom-India Summit will focus on strengthening cooperation in agriculture, food security, health, pharmaceuticals, science, and innovation, according to the Office of the Prime Minister.
While in Guyana, Dr Rowley, as chairman of the Caricom Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee on Cricket, will chair a meeting of the committee.
Later this week, Dr Rowley, as the Lead Head for Crime and Security, will participate in Caricom’s second regional symposium on violence as a public health issue.
In April 2023, T&T hosted the first regional crime symposium to promote dialogue and regional action for violence reduction and crime prevention.
The delegation accompanying Rowley includes Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs Dr Amery Browne, Attorney General Reginald Armour, and Minister in the Ministry of Legal Affairs, Renuka Sagramsingh-Sooklal.
Minister of Energy and Energy Industries Stuart Young, will act as Prime Minister until Dr Rowley’s return.
