A San Juan man is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate this morning, charged with the murder of Neil Churchill Thomas, which occurred on Saturday 26th March 2022.
An official statement from the Police Service says JUNIOR TOUSSAINT, 26, of Bagatelle Extension, was charged with the offence following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on Friday 1st April 2022.
Neil Churchill Thomas, 67, of Belmont, was found with apparent stab wounds to the body at the corner of Charlotte and Duke Streets, Port of Spain, on Saturday 26th March 2022. Thomas was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
A male suspect was held in connection with the incident shortly afterwards, by officers of the Port of Spain Division.
Investigations were supervised by Inspectors Lynch, Jones and Mongroo—all of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region One—with the assistance of officers of the Port of Spain Division Task Force.
Toussaint was charged with the offence by PC Smith, also of HBI Region One, on Friday 1st April 2022.
