San Juan man charged with murder

A San Juan man is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a Port of Spain Mag­is­trate this morn­ing, charged with the mur­der of Neil Churchill Thomas, which oc­curred on Sat­ur­day 26th March 2022.

An of­fi­cial state­ment from the Po­lice Ser­vice says JU­NIOR TOU­S­SAINT, 26, of Bagatelle Ex­ten­sion, was charged with the of­fence fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Roger Gas­pard SC, on Fri­day 1st April 2022.

Neil Churchill Thomas, 67, of Bel­mont, was found with ap­par­ent stab wounds to the body at the cor­ner of Char­lotte and Duke Streets, Port of Spain, on Sat­ur­day 26th March 2022.  Thomas was tak­en to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he died while un­der­go­ing treat­ment.

A male sus­pect was held in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent short­ly af­ter­wards, by of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by In­spec­tors Lynch, Jones and Mon­groo—all of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI), Re­gion One—with the as­sis­tance of of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion Task Force.

Tou­s­saint was charged with the of­fence by PC Smith, al­so of HBI Re­gion One, on Fri­day 1st April 2022.
