A shoot­ing in­ci­dent last night at Blake Av­enue Ex­ten­sion, Damarie Hill in San­gre Grande, led to the fa­ther of a 3-month-old ba­by los­ing his life.

The vic­tim has been iden­ti­fied as Stephon Sa­roops­ingh, 20, al­so known as Ba­boo.

Po­lice say the shoot­ing oc­curred at about 10:30pm on Wednes­day, March 15.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that Sa­roops­ingh was lim­ing with group of friends in front of a fruit stall, when two armed men emerged from the bush­es and be­gan shoot­ing.

Peo­ple in the area scam­pered and es­caped un­hurt. How­ev­er, Sa­roops­ingh was fol­lowed by the shoot­ers. He re­port­ed­ly stum­bled and fell in­to the same yard where 6-year-old Kylie Mel­oney was shot and killed sev­er­al weeks ago.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands this mur­der could be a reprisal for that killing.
