Ko­by Hinds of Pin­to Road, Ari­ma,  has been charged with the mur­der of Josi­ah Mal­oney, which oc­curred on April 14th. The 23-year-old was al­so charged with pos­ses­sion of a firearm, pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion, pos­ses­sion of a firearm to en­dan­ger life, pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion to en­dan­ger life and shoot­ing with in­tent, when he ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Bramb­hanan Dubay, in the Ari­ma First Mag­is­trates’ Court to­day. The mat­ter was ad­journed to Au­gust 8th. 

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, Mal­oney, 19, of De­mer­ara Road, Ari­ma, was at his home on April 14th  in the com­pa­ny of two per­sons, when two armed as­sailants en­tered. The gun­men fired sev­er­al shots at the vic­tims be­fore es­cap­ing. Mal­oney died at the scene, while one of the oth­er vic­tims was tak­en to hos­pi­tal for treat­ment. 

The ac­cused was ar­rest­ed on Ju­ly 6th by of­fi­cers of the North­ern Di­vi­sion. In­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by ASP Dou­glas, In­sp. John, Sgt. Stanis­claus and Cpl (Ag.) Gor­don, all of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI), Re­gion Two. Hinds was charged by WPC Th­er­oulde, al­so of HBI Re­gion Two, on Sat­ur­day 9th Ju­ly, 2022, fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Roger Gas­pard SC, on Fri­day 8th Ju­ly, 2022.

This mur­der was pre­vi­ous­ly solved with the charg­ing of Ronal­do Ass­ing, 19, a labour­er, of Ari­ma, on May 25th, 2022
