Some seven Massy Stores located in West, East and Central Trinidad are open for business, this morning, and the company expects to be able to open even more stores during the course of today.
A release issued a short while ago by the company reports that stores opened their doors to the public from 7 am:
“Further to yesterday’s notice, the following Massy Stores Supermarkets are open from 7 am today to serve you: Westmoorings, Maraval, Alyce Glen, St Augustine, El Dorado, Chaguanas, and Brentwood,” Massy Stores said.
It added: “We continue to work assiduously to get the rest of our locations back up and running. We will continue to update you via our social media channels as more stores are restored today.”
However, the Massy Card system is still not fully operational, and the company assures customers they will not lose their transaction points.
“At this time our Massy Card system is not fully operational, for safety and security reasons. Customers are advised to email a photo of their entire bill and their Massy Card number—on the back of the card—to info.tt@massycard.com. A member of the Massy Card team will manually credit your account with the Massy Points due to you based on your bill,” the release explained. “Customers can also contact us at 737 1669 for more information about the Massy Card.”
“We thank you for your support and patience at this time and look forward to your continued cooperation as we return to normal operations,” Massy Stores added.
On Thursday, thousands of Massy Stores customers were turned away as the Massy staff realised the checkout system was not functioning and sales at the company’s 23 branches nationwide could not be completed.
Even customers who sought to pay bills through Surepay and Moneygram wire money transfer services were turned away.
The only business conducted at Massy Stores locations was the sale of its prepared lunches, which were sold in cash-only transactions.
