SE­WA Trinidad and To­ba­go in part­ner­ship with the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) do­nat­ed 250 food ham­pers for fam­i­lies in need. Deputy Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice (DCP), Mc Don­ald Ja­cob, ex­pressed his grat­i­tude for the KN95 masks he re­ceived at a brief hand­ing over cer­e­mo­ny at the Po­lice Ad­min­is­tra­tion Build­ing, Port of Spain. De­tails fol­low in this press re­lease from the TTPS: 

This was the sen­ti­ment echoed by Deputy Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice (DCP), Mc Don­ald Ja­cob, who wel­comed the part­ner­ship be­ing forged by the SE­WA Trinidad and To­ba­go and the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS), which has seen the do­na­tion of 250 food ham­pers for fam­i­lies in need and a gen­er­ous do­na­tion of face masks for po­lice of­fi­cers.  

The KN95 face masks were do­nat­ed to­day at a brief hand­ing over cer­e­mo­ny at the Po­lice Ad­min­is­tra­tion Build­ing, Port of Spain. Mean­while, the food ham­pers were hand­ed over on No­vem­ber 6th at the Di­vali Na­gar Site, Ch­agua­nas.  

In at­ten­dance to­day were DCP (Ag.), Ad­min­is­tra­tion, Joanne Archie, Cpl Tashika Gomes of the I Sup­port Our Ser­vice Sec­re­tari­at (ISOS) and Pres­i­dent of SE­WA TT Mr. Re­van Teelucks­ingh. 

Ex­press­ing his grat­i­tude at the do­na­tion of masks, DCP Ja­cob ap­plaud­ed the or­gan­i­sa­tion on their con­tin­u­ous civ­il du­ty as just on Sun­day, the vol­un­teer group dis­trib­uted 3000 ham­pers to sev­er­al Gov­ern­ment and Non-Gov­ern­ment Or­gan­i­sa­tions in­clud­ing the TTPS in a col­lab­o­ra­tive dri­ve. “We are tru­ly grate­ful to you for your ef­forts,” DCP Ja­cob said. He con­tin­ued, “These items will go a long way in as­sist­ing the TTPS in their du­ties.” 

DCP (Ag.) Archie al­so com­mend­ed the NGO for their cor­po­rate re­spon­si­bil­i­ty while ex­press­ing her thanks for the do­na­tions. On No­vem­ber 6th, the SE­WA TT do­nat­ed 250 ham­pers to be dis­sem­i­nat­ed across the nine Polic­ing Di­vi­sions for the com­mu­ni­ty polic­ing ini­tia­tive. Ham­pers were al­so dis­trib­uted to Trinidad and To­ba­go Fire Ser­vice, Trinidad and To­ba­go Prison Ser­vice, the San­gre Grande Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion, oth­er Non-Gov­ern­ment Or­ga­ni­za­tions and in­di­vid­u­als. The Com­mu­ni­ty-Ori­ent­ed Polic­ing Sec­re­tari­at (COPS) co­or­di­nat­ed the dis­tri­b­u­tion with the Guard and Emer­gency Branch en­sur­ing every­thing was con­duct­ed safe­ly. 

“Giv­ing is not just about mak­ing a do­na­tion but about mak­ing a dif­fer­ence,” said Mr. Teelucks­ingh’s who em­pathized with the chal­lenges faced by the TTPS, ex­ac­er­bat­ed by the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic. Our goal and strength is build­ing a sense of com­mu­ni­ty through vol­un­teerism and sup­port,” he said. 

SE­WA TT, which start­ed with ten young pro­fes­sion­als, has ex­pand­ed to 500 mem­bers aimed at mak­ing a dif­fer­ence through self­less ser­vice as the name SE­WA (San­skrit) sug­gests.
