The Tobago doctor who was shot by a stray bullet while shielding her daughter has been discharged from hospital and is home recovering.
Both Tobago Regional Health Authority officials and ACP Collis Hazel rubbished rumours on social media that Dr Iana Parrissienne-James had died. She was shot in the arm on Thursday night in front of Pablo’s Supermarket on Windward Road, Argyle.
At the time of the incident, she and her one-year-old daughter were in their car while her husband was in the supermarket. Police said a gunman fired several shots at his target, who was liming in front of the supermarket. The intended target escaped, but Parrissienne-James was injured.
Her husband rushed back to the vehicle after hearing the gunfire. He found his wife in the back seat, crouched protectively over their daughter, bleeding from a wound in her right shoulder.
Parrissienne-James was immediately taken to Roxborough General Hospital for treatment before being transferred to Scarborough General Hospital by ambulance. She was treated and discharged.
