Three years af­ter Freeport gang leader Hay­den “Lu­do” Nero was mur­dered, his younger broth­er Nicholas “Pan” Nero suf­fered a sim­i­lar fate.

Nero, 35, of June Street, Lisas Gar­dens in Cou­va was shot dead dur­ing a dri­ve-by shoot­ing along Moon­sam­my Street, Cal­i­for­nia.

A re­port stat­ed that Nero went to vis­it a friend in Cal­i­for­nia when around mid­day when he was shot.

The friend told homi­cide in­ves­ti­ga­tors that he heard gun­shots and then found Nero bleed­ing in the yard.

Of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions, Re­gion Three, in­clud­ing ASP Steve Per­sad, PC Nel­son, PC Bernard and PC Mo­hammed re­spond­ed and in­ter­viewed wit­ness­es who said that a ve­hi­cle drove by and an oc­cu­pant opened fire on Nero.

In Feb­ru­ary 2015, Hay­den, 35 along with his friend Dwayne Cal­len­der, were shot sev­er­al times out­side his Lisas Gar­dens home.

Hay­den, who had sev­er­al firearm charges pend­ing at the Cou­va Mag­is­trate’s Court and a con­vic­tion for firearms and drug of­fences was la­belled a gang leader in the Freeport area by po­lice.

Fol­low­ing his death, sev­er­al peo­ple, in­clud­ing Garvin An­drews, David Bar­ran and Adisa “Goaty” Ogin­gea were mur­dered in a spate of reprisal killing. Homi­cide in­ves­ti­ga­tors have not linked the younger Nero’s death to the 2015 mur­ders.

Sus­pect­ed La Ro­main drug deal­er shot dead

Po­lice are al­so in­ves­ti­gat­ing the mur­der of a La Ro­main man who they said sold drugs in the com­mu­ni­ty.

A re­port stat­ed that around 9 pm, Ha­keem “Niko” Mowlah, 24, of Grace Lane was found bleed­ing on the road­side. Rel­a­tives told po­lice that all they heard was gun­shots and when they checked out­side, they found Mowlah ly­ing in the road with no one around.

He was tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal but was al­ready dead when he ar­rived.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said Mowlah had been ar­rest­ed for drug pos­ses­sion, house­break­ing and lar­ce­ny in re­cent times.
