Three years after Freeport gang leader Hayden “Ludo” Nero was murdered, his younger brother Nicholas “Pan” Nero suffered a similar fate.
Nero, 35, of June Street, Lisas Gardens in Couva was shot dead during a drive-by shooting along Moonsammy Street, California.
A report stated that Nero went to visit a friend in California when around midday when he was shot.
The friend told homicide investigators that he heard gunshots and then found Nero bleeding in the yard.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three, including ASP Steve Persad, PC Nelson, PC Bernard and PC Mohammed responded and interviewed witnesses who said that a vehicle drove by and an occupant opened fire on Nero.
In February 2015, Hayden, 35 along with his friend Dwayne Callender, were shot several times outside his Lisas Gardens home.
Hayden, who had several firearm charges pending at the Couva Magistrate’s Court and a conviction for firearms and drug offences was labelled a gang leader in the Freeport area by police.
Following his death, several people, including Garvin Andrews, David Barran and Adisa “Goaty” Ogingea were murdered in a spate of reprisal killing. Homicide investigators have not linked the younger Nero’s death to the 2015 murders.
Suspected La Romain drug dealer shot dead
Police are also investigating the murder of a La Romain man who they said sold drugs in the community.
A report stated that around 9 pm, Hakeem “Niko” Mowlah, 24, of Grace Lane was found bleeding on the roadside. Relatives told police that all they heard was gunshots and when they checked outside, they found Mowlah lying in the road with no one around.
He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital but was already dead when he arrived.
Investigators said Mowlah had been arrested for drug possession, housebreaking and larceny in recent times.
