A Lance Corporal of the T&T Defence Force has been charged with the murder of Chezerae Kidney-Ramdass, which occurred on January 29.
Kevin Hamilton, 40, also called “Frame” of Upper Belle Road, Belmont, Port of Spain, appeared before Master Whitney Franklin at South Court C charged with murder. He was not called upon to plea and was remanded in custody.
A sufficiency hearing is set for September 30.
The charge stems from a shooting incident at Orchid Gardens, Pleasantville, in which 29-year-old Chezerae Kidney-Ramdass was killed. Investigations revealed that at approximately 3:40 p.m. on 29th January 2025, Chezerae, who operated a small shop out of her apartment window, heard the bell indicating a customer was present. When she went to check, she was met with gunfire, resulting in fatal injuries.
Following an investigation by Detective WPC Jenelle Mohammed, a consultation was held with Assistant Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs. Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal, on 15th March 2025. Instructions were given to proceed with the murder charge. Mr. Hamilton was formally charged with the offence on March 16.
