A Lance Cor­po­ral of the T&T De­fence Force has been charged with the mur­der of Chez­er­ae Kid­ney-Ram­dass, which oc­curred on Jan­u­ary 29.

Kevin Hamil­ton, 40, al­so called “Frame” of Up­per Belle Road, Bel­mont, Port of Spain, ap­peared be­fore Mas­ter Whit­ney Franklin at South Court C charged with mur­der. He was not called up­on to plea and was re­mand­ed in cus­tody.

A suf­fi­cien­cy hear­ing is set for Sep­tem­ber 30.

The charge stems from a shoot­ing in­ci­dent at Or­chid Gar­dens, Pleas­antville, in which 29-year-old Chez­er­ae Kid­ney-Ram­dass was killed. In­ves­ti­ga­tions re­vealed that at ap­prox­i­mate­ly 3:40 p.m. on 29th Jan­u­ary 2025, Chez­er­ae, who op­er­at­ed a small shop out of her apart­ment win­dow, heard the bell in­di­cat­ing a cus­tomer was present. When she went to check, she was met with gun­fire, re­sult­ing in fa­tal in­juries.

Fol­low­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion by De­tec­tive WPC Jenelle Mo­hammed, a con­sul­ta­tion was held with As­sis­tant Deputy Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Mrs. Sab­ri­na Dougdeen-Jaglal, on 15th March 2025. In­struc­tions were giv­en to pro­ceed with the mur­der charge. Mr. Hamil­ton was for­mal­ly charged with the of­fence on March 16.
