“I want my son,” wailed the mother of Nicholas Kalloo, after he was fatally shot yesterday afternoon.
Kalloo, 35, a straightener, of Picton Street, Diamond Village, San Fernando, was in a garage at Gopaul Street Extension, near his home, around 4.15 pm when a car slowed down and the occupants opened fire.
Kalloo died at the scene while another man, of Cragnish Village, Princes Town, was shot in the arm but managed to escape.
A resident said the injured man was assisted by villagers, who bandaged his wound and flagged down a vehicle to take him to the hospital.
Overcome with grief, Kalloo’s mother Radica held on to the gate as she cried.
As the undertakers were leaving with the body, she begged to see her son.
Police were still trying to ascertain a motive last night.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigation are probing the murder.
