Student stabbed defending friend in El Dorado

A Form Four stu­dent of the El Do­ra­do East Sec­ondary School, was stabbed while de­fend­ing his friend against an at­tack from stu­dents from an­oth­er school on Wednes­day. Up to yes­ter­day the school­boy re­mained hos­pi­talised in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

The 14-year-old, of Phase Two, La Hor­quet­ta, was stabbed around 2.45 pm while at Govia Street, El Do­ra­do.

Po­lice said the vic­tim was with friends from his school when they were ap­proached by a group of stu­dents from the Five Rivers Sec­ondary School, some who were dressed in school uni­form.

The re­port said the group had come to beat-up one of the vic­tim’s friends, and up­on see­ing what was hap­pen­ing he in­ter­vened in the fight.

Dur­ing the al­ter­ca­tion, the vic­tim was stabbed in the left up­per back and left up­per arm.

On­look­ers called the po­lice and con­tact­ed the Emer­gency Health Ser­vices who took the vic­tim to the Ac­ci­dent and Emer­gency De­part­ment, Wendy Fitzwilliam Pae­di­atric Hos­pi­tal, in Mt Hope.

Po­lice of­fi­cers were un­able to speak with the vic­tim on Wednes­day, and were due to re­turn to the hos­pi­tal yes­ter­day to get a state­ment from him.
