A Form Four student of the El Dorado East Secondary School, was stabbed while defending his friend against an attack from students from another school on Wednesday. Up to yesterday the schoolboy remained hospitalised in a stable condition.
The 14-year-old, of Phase Two, La Horquetta, was stabbed around 2.45 pm while at Govia Street, El Dorado.
Police said the victim was with friends from his school when they were approached by a group of students from the Five Rivers Secondary School, some who were dressed in school uniform.
The report said the group had come to beat-up one of the victim’s friends, and upon seeing what was happening he intervened in the fight.
During the altercation, the victim was stabbed in the left upper back and left upper arm.
Onlookers called the police and contacted the Emergency Health Services who took the victim to the Accident and Emergency Department, Wendy Fitzwilliam Paediatric Hospital, in Mt Hope.
Police officers were unable to speak with the victim on Wednesday, and were due to return to the hospital yesterday to get a statement from him.
