Students at Tabaquite Secondary School are now enjoying a major digital boost thanks to a donation of new WiFi infrastructure by UNICEF.
The school is the first of 14 across the country to benefit from the special digital development project undertaken by UNICEF and the Ministry of Education.
On Tuesday 10 May 2022, Minister of Education Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly was joined by Dr Aloys Kamuragiye, Representative of the UNICEF Eastern Caribbean Area, and Fiaz Shah, Education Manager at UNICEF, to tour the Tabaquite Secondary School and see how the new WiFi set up has been operating.

According to a release from the education ministry, the project funding of US$100 million is for 14 schools. It involves the outfitting of all classrooms, laboratories and specialty rooms, with connectivity of 16 access points to provide an online learning platform for students and to encourage digital development and advancement.
The ministry says Tabaquite Secondary, with a school population of 556, is the first school to be completed.
It is estimated that the remaining schools will be completed in June.
