Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing an in­ci­dent in which a teenag­er was shot and killed in Diego Mar­tin yes­ter­day.

Po­lice iden­ti­fied the vic­tim as Nicholas Smith, 19, of An­drew Trace, Diego Mar­tin. A fe­male teenag­er was al­so wound­ed in the same in­ci­dent.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, res­i­dents of Bagatelle Road re­port­ed hear­ing mul­ti­ple gun­shots at 6 am When they checked, they found Smith with gun­shot wounds. He suc­cumbed to his in­juries on the scene.

Po­lice re­spond­ed to the in­ci­dent and have launched an in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

In an un­re­lat­ed in­ci­dent, mean­while, a 19-year-old man sus­tained a gun­shot wound to his left thigh dur­ing a shoot­ing in­ci­dent in Laven­tille on Thurs­day.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred at 7 pm, as the vic­tim was walk­ing from his home on Pat­ter­son Lane to­wards a near­by riv­er.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, the vic­tim ob­served a masked man armed with a firearm, who opened fire in his di­rec­tion. The in­jured teen was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex in Mt Hope for treat­ment by a rel­a­tive and was said to be in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

Law en­force­ment of­fi­cers from the San Juan Po­lice Dis­trict and the North East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force vis­it­ed the scene and con­duct­ed in­ter­views with res­i­dents.

The area was processed and six rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion were re­cov­ered.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors al­so in­ter­viewed the vic­tim at the hos­pi­tal, where he agreed to pro­vide a for­mal state­ment at a lat­er date.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
