Police are investigating an incident in which a teenager was shot and killed in Diego Martin yesterday.
Police identified the victim as Nicholas Smith, 19, of Andrew Trace, Diego Martin. A female teenager was also wounded in the same incident.
According to a police report, residents of Bagatelle Road reported hearing multiple gunshots at 6 am When they checked, they found Smith with gunshot wounds. He succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
Police responded to the incident and have launched an investigation.
In an unrelated incident, meanwhile, a 19-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his left thigh during a shooting incident in Laventille on Thursday.
The incident occurred at 7 pm, as the victim was walking from his home on Patterson Lane towards a nearby river.
According to reports, the victim observed a masked man armed with a firearm, who opened fire in his direction. The injured teen was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope for treatment by a relative and was said to be in a stable condition.
Law enforcement officers from the San Juan Police District and the North Eastern Division Task Force visited the scene and conducted interviews with residents.
The area was processed and six rounds of 5.56 ammunition were recovered.
Investigators also interviewed the victim at the hospital, where he agreed to provide a formal statement at a later date.
Investigations are ongoing.
