Three people were arrested and charged with several drug-related offences in Mayaro. The following is a press release from the TTPS:
Three persons were arrested and charged in Mayaro. Two were charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and cultivating marijuana, while the other was charged with possession of marijuana. On Monday 11th August, the officers of the Mayaro Task Force, the Emergency Response Patrol (ERP) and the Canine Unit were on exercise duty in the Mayaro district when they conducted searches for dangerous drugs and firearms and ammunition.
RENNIE FRANCOIS, aka BODOW, 47, and his common law wife VIJANTIE SAMAROO, 50, of Manzanilla Road, Mayaro, were both arrested and charged for possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and cultivating marijuana. During the search, 1,226 grams of marijuana was allegedly found in their house while 93 fully grown marijuana trees were reportedly found at the back of the house. The charges were laid by WPC Charles. SHARON ADOLPHUS, 54, of Lewis and Sucre Street, Mayaro, was also arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. During the search, 360 grams of marijuana was allegedly found within the house.
The charge was laid by PC Guerra. The officers searched a vacant lot at La Savanna Circular, Guayaguayare, and 50 grams of marijuana was found and seized. The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Joseph Chandool, Supt Khan and ASP Jankie under the supervision of Insp Ramkissoon.
