Central Division police are investigating three separate robberies which took place within a three hour period on Sunday morning in Chaguanas and Cunupia.
In the first incident, a 28-year-old taxi driver was plying his white Nissan Wingroad for hire on the Felicity Taxi Stand around 4.15 am when he was approached by a man who asked to be taken to Joyce Road, Chaguanas.
The driver agreed and drove the man to the location, however, on arrival, the passenger sprayed the driver with an unknown liquid.
The driver felt both of his eyes burning and was ordered out of the car by the bandit who drove off.
In the second incident, a 65-year-old woman was walking to the garage at the side of her Cacandee Road, Felicity home around 5 am when she was confronted by five men, one of whom had a gun.
The bandits forced the woman back into the bedroom of her home where a 51-year-old relative was relaxing and tied both victims.
One of the bandits then threw gasoline on the man and threatened him, as the others ransacked the house stealing $95,000, two cellphones and jewellery, before escaping in a white Nissan AD Wagon.
Two hours later at 7 am, a 64-year-old man arrived at his Monroe Road, workplace when he was confronted by four masked gunmen who tied him up and beat him.
The bandits then ordered the man to call his boss.
The 47-year-old businessman, who also lives at the workplace, responded to the call but was ambushed and beaten by the bandits.
The businessman’s relatives including four children ages 16, 15, 13 and ten-years-old were tied up and locked in a room of the house, as the bandits stole $220,000, US$8,000, jewellery, laptops, cellphones and a green Kia Sportage before escaping.
Police were called in and found the cellphones on Camden Road, Couva, shortly after.
