A tropical storm watch is now in effect for Tobago as of 4:26 PM today.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service, “as at 2 PM today, the centre of TS Gonzalo is located near 9.7N 48.8W. Tropical Storm conditions are expected to affect Tobago from the morning of Saturday (25th) July 2020.”
“Periods of heavy to intense showers and/or thunderstorms are likely. Heavy/intense downpours can result in street/flash flooding. Gusty winds in excess of 85 km/hr can be expected and the risk of landslides/landslips is very high in areas so prone. Sea conditions are also likely to become occasionally rough.”
They are advising the public to prepare to protect lives, livelihood, and property. Also, prepare a survival kit, plan you evacuation to a shelter if it becomes necessary and always have emergency supplies of food and water on standby.
