A truck driver and his loader narrowly escaped death yesterday, after their truck collided with a tree.
Police said at 3 pm, the driver claimed he lost control of the five-tonne truck after he was cut off by another driver. He said the truck landed on the median of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in Trincity, crashing into a tree, which led the cabin to separating from the truck’s body.
Speaking after the incident, truck owner Bert Lewis said both the driver and loader did not sustain serious injuries.
Lewis runs a maintenance and transport company.
Police later stated that the loader received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Investigations are ongoing.
