Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana have further strengthened their avenues of economic and social cooperation following recent talks between the President of Guyana His Excellency Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, and a delegation led by the Minister of Youth Development and National Service, Foster Cummings MP.
A release issued by the Ministry of Communications in the Office of the Prime Minister reports that Minister Cummings and the T&T delegation met on Thursday 30 June 2022 with President Ali and a delegation from Guyana that included Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, and Minister of Agriculture, Honourable Zulfikar Mustapha, among other dignitaries, at President's House, Georgetown, Guyana.
The discussions, which have been described as successful, covered a range of topics including agriculture and agro-processing, with a key focus placed on youth in agriculture, also leading to future collaboration between Guyana and T&T on regional food security.
President Dr. Ali made a commitment to work with Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley, to ensure that these initiatives come to fruition in the shortest possible time frame.
Minister Cummings was joined by Ministers in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, the Honourable Avinash Singh and Senator the Honourable Nigel de Freitas, along with other members of the Trinidad and Tobago delegation.
