Trinidad and To­ba­go and Guyana have fur­ther strength­ened their av­enues of eco­nom­ic and so­cial co­op­er­a­tion fol­low­ing re­cent talks be­tween the Pres­i­dent of Guyana His Ex­cel­len­cy Dr Mo­hamed Ir­faan Ali, and a del­e­ga­tion led by the Min­is­ter of Youth De­vel­op­ment and Na­tion­al Ser­vice, Fos­ter Cum­mings MP.

A re­lease is­sued by the Min­istry of Com­mu­ni­ca­tions in the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter re­ports that Min­is­ter Cum­mings and the T&T del­e­ga­tion met on Thurs­day 30 June 2022 with Pres­i­dent Ali and a del­e­ga­tion from Guyana that in­clud­ed Vice Pres­i­dent Dr. Bhar­rat Jagdeo, and Min­is­ter of Agri­cul­ture, Ho­n­ourable Zul­fikar Mustapha, among oth­er dig­ni­taries, at Pres­i­dent's House, George­town, Guyana.

The dis­cus­sions, which have been de­scribed as suc­cess­ful, cov­ered a range of top­ics in­clud­ing agri­cul­ture and agro-pro­cess­ing, with a key fo­cus placed on youth in agri­cul­ture, al­so lead­ing to fu­ture col­lab­o­ra­tion be­tween Guyana and T&T on re­gion­al food se­cu­ri­ty.

Pres­i­dent Dr. Ali made a com­mit­ment to work with Prime Min­is­ter, Dr. Kei­th Row­ley, to en­sure that these ini­tia­tives come to fruition in the short­est pos­si­ble time frame.

Min­is­ter Cum­mings was joined by Min­is­ters in the Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture, Land and Fish­eries, the Ho­n­ourable Avinash Singh and Sen­a­tor the Ho­n­ourable Nigel de Fre­itas, along with oth­er mem­bers of the Trinidad and To­ba­go del­e­ga­tion.
