While J'ouvert celebrations have concluded in major areas in Trinidad and Tobago, the Police Service says the event has been a success as they reported little to no incidents.

TTPS Gold Commander, ACP Kelvern Thompson said the strong presence of officers contributed to the deterrence of serious offences.

“Diligent and intelligent led patrols along with CCTV-led surveillance has identified known persons of interest and officers were able to deter them from committing further arrestable offences. We can say that this has been a result of our collaboration which would include our masqueraders who have been very cooperative,” he said.

Thompson added that several weapons were seized by the TTPS outside areas of celebration and some people were arrested.

He thanked masqueraders for cooperating with the authorities.
