Po­lice ar­rest­ed two men and seized a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion dur­ing an in­tel­li­gence-led op­er­a­tion in Mal­oney on Sat­ur­day night.

The ex­er­cise took place be­tween 7 pm and 10 pm and was con­duct­ed un­der the State of Emer­gency Reg­u­la­tions by of­fi­cers at­tached to the Mal­oney Po­lice Sta­tion.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers car­ried out co­or­di­nat­ed search­es at two res­i­dences at Build­ing 20, Mal­oney, where they ar­rest­ed two men, aged 23 and 24.

Fol­low­ing up on in­tel­li­gence re­ceived, of­fi­cers al­so searched an area be­hind Build­ing 20. Dur­ing the search, they found and seized an ob­ject re­sem­bling a .380 cal­i­bre firearm along with 18 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.
