Two men were arrested for possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking by officers of Toco Police Station during a traffic duty exercise conducted in the district, early on Friday morning.
An official police statement reports that at around 1:10am, PC Singh stopped a Toyota Hilux vehicle driven by a 33-year-old man from San Souci, with a 31-year-old occupant from Omera Road, Arima.
A search of the vehicle was conducted which resulted in the discovery of a crocus bag containing 3.5 kilograms of marijuana.
The TTPS release states that the marijuana has an estimated street value of $45,500.
Both men were formally charged for possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
They are expected to appear in a virtual hearing at the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court, today.
