Two in­pa­tients from St Ann’s Psy­chi­atric Hos­pi­tal es­caped this morn­ing.

The North West Re­gion­al Health Au­thor­i­ty (NWRHA) con­firmed t two pa­tients as­signed to the Foren­sic Ward-27 at St. Ann’s Hos­pi­tal left the fa­cil­i­ty with­out au­tho­riza­tion this morn­ing.

In a re­lease, the NWRHA said at ap­prox­i­mate­ly 6:00 a.m., hos­pi­tal man­age­ment be­came aware that the in­di­vid­u­als were no longer on the premis­es.

The TTPS was no­ti­fied, and the NWRHA has launched an in­ter­nal in­ves­ti­ga­tion to de­ter­mine the cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing this in­ci­dent. It promised to strength­en se­cu­ri­ty pro­to­cols where nec­es­sary.

“The safe­ty of our pa­tients, staff, and the wider com­mu­ni­ty re­mains our high­est pri­or­i­ty, and we are treat­ing this mat­ter with the ut­most ur­gency,” the NWRHA said.
