A 47-year-old man who was arrested last week, as he was about to allegedly sexually assault a woman, was denied bail yesterday.
Terrence Sorillo, of Sorillo Drive, Mt Hope Extension, Mt Hope, will reappear before a Master of the High Court on September 4. Yesterday he appeared before Master Shabaanah Shah charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, indecent assault and common assault.
Sorillo was charged along with Hansley Campbell, who was granted $250,000 bail. Campbell was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, common assault, possession marijuana and resisting arrest.
Campbell was ordered to stay at Ramoutar Drive, Mt D'Or and must inform the court if his address changes. He is also ordered to report to St Joseph Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday between 6 am and 7 pm, not communicate with the victim, remain 300 feet from the victim and be indoors between 10pm and 5am every day.
The men were held by police on July 25 by officers Nicholls and Moona.
Police reported then that the officers responded to a report of an armed man in a black Mitsubishi Lancer along Robert Street, Woodbrook.
The officers of the Central Police Station went to the corners of French Street and Robert Street, Woodbrook and found the armed man and an accomplice with a woman in a car.
Police said the main suspect on seeing the approaching officers sped off but was stopped nearby.
The victim told police she was held at gunpoint by the men and was about to be sexually assaulted before they arrived.
