An ex-coast­guard of­fi­cer and his friend were bru­tal­ly chopped dur­ing a bar brawl in Siparia on Sat­ur­day.

The 43-year-old ex-coast­guard and his 42-year-old friend were lim­ing at Williams Bar, De Gannes Vil­lage, around 2.30 am when a group of pa­trons be­gan ar­gu­ing, and it es­ca­lat­ed in­to a fight.

As the friends were about to leave, a man known to the ex-coast­guard be­gan chop­ping him with a cut­lass on his head, low­er ab­domen, up­per back and hand.

His friend tried to help him and was chopped on his head and hand. One of his fin­gers were sev­ered. They were ward­ed at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal in sta­ble con­di­tion up to yes­ter­day.
