There have been two new deaths from COVID-19, bringing the national death toll to 125 persons, according to the latest update from the Ministry of Health.
These are the first deaths recorded since Monday December 14th.
And the update also is confirming 12 new positive cases, from samples taken between Friday 18 to Sunday 20 December 2020.
In its update for today, Monday 21 December 2020, the Ministry reports that these new positive cases bring the total number of active cases in the country to 416 patients—a further reduction in the number of active cases nationally, as the figure for yesterday (Sunday) stood at 420 patients.
The Health Ministry also notes in its update:
● 24 persons are still hospitalised for COVID-19; up from 20 patients on Sunday.
● 340 persons are in home self-isolation; down from 354 patients on Sunday.
● 452 persons are in State quarantine facilities; up from 422 patients on Sunday.
● 40 patients are now recovering in step/down facilities; up from 20 patients on Sunday.

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO COVID-19 (NOVEL CORONAVIRUS) UPDATE #580
As part of the national drive to safeguard the health of the Trinidad and Tobago population in the face of the global COVID-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Health continues to provide up-to-date information on the country’s status in this regard.
The following is a clinical update as at 4 pm on Monday 21st December 2020. The population is reminded to rely solely on information from official sources, such as the Ministry of Health.

Members of the public are reminded that they must adhere to the ‘New Normal’ recommendations and take the following personal health measures to protect themselves and their loved ones from COVID-19:
● Wear a mask over your nose and mouth when you go out in public
● Keep your distance from others (6 feet)
● Stay home if you are ill
● Clean then sanitise surfaces (e.g. tabletops, door knobs and cell phones)
● Wash your hands often with soap and waters or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser
● Cough into a tissue or into the cook of your elbow
● Avoid touching your face
If you or a loved one develops symptoms of COVID-19, please call the hotline 877-WELL or 800-WELL (9355) for further guidance.
If the person is severely ill, call the 811 (emergency hotline) or call ahead to the Accident and Emergency Department of your nearest hospital for help and go in immediately.
